Jaipur: Residents of Bijainagar in Rajasthan’s Beawar district have protested against the sexual exploitation and blackmail of six schoolgirls, leading to a widespread shutdown of businesses. On Friday, a bandh was organized by a newly formed 21-member committee called the Sarva Samaj Sangharsh Samiti, which arose from community gatherings the previous night. Protesters gathered at Char Batti crossing and marched through local markets, demanding severe punishment for those responsible. A memorandum calling for immediate legal action will be presented to the authorities.

So far, police have apprehended nine of the thirteen suspects, including a minor, following the arrests of Karim Qureshi, Aashiq Mansuri, and Shravan Chaudhary, who owns Chill Out Cafe. Five others who were previously arrested will appear before the Ajmer POCSO court as their remand period ends.

Ajmer Range’s Deputy Inspector General of Police, Omprakash, has designated this case for special handling by appointing a female police inspector to lead the investigation. Authorities have promised to protect witnesses and aim to file a charge sheet within a week to expedite the trial process.

The accused allegedly formed a gang under the guise of “love jihad,” targeting the girls by initiating romantic relationships, gifting them Chinese mobile phones, and ultimately coercing them into sexual relations. They reportedly used threats to force the girls into participating in religious activities, including intimidation against their families.

The complaint has led to multiple charges being filed against the suspects, including sexual harassment, stalking, forced prostitution, and violations under the POCSO Act. Among those named are individuals from various locations, including Soheb from Gulabpura and Soyal Mansuri from Bijainagar.

As protests continue, the public’s demand for justice and stringent action against the accused intensifies, with authorities keeping a close eye on the evolving situation.
