Jalandhar : Chief Commissioner, Gurdwara Elections, Punjab has issued a revised schedule regarding the preparation of voter lists for the formation of the new board of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that according to the previously released schedule, the voter registration forms for Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee elections were to be received between October 21, 2023 to February 29, 2024, however, as per revised schedule to receive voter registration forms, the last date has been extended to April 30, 2024.
Mr. Sarangal further said that according to the revised schedule, the preliminary publication of the electoral roll for the elections will be made on May 21, 2024, on which claims and objections will be received up to June 11, 2024. He said that the claims and objections received will be settled by June 21, 2024 as per Rule 10 (3) of the Sikh Gurdwara Board Elections Rules, 1959.
The DC further informed that after this, the supplementary voter lists will be prepared and printed on July 2, 2024 and the final publication of the voter lists will be done on July 3, 2024.
It is worth mentioning that for registration as voter for SGPCelections, the applicant should be a Kesadhari Sikh. A person who shaves his beard, smokes or drinks alcohol cannot register himself as a voter.
