Salman Khan firing case: accused Anuj Thapan dies by committing suicide in police custody

A man identified as Anuj Thapan who was arrested in Salman Khan firing case dies by committing suicide in police custody. According to sources he commits suicide in bathroom.

Mumbai : A man identified as Anuj Thapan who was arrested in Salman Khan firing case dies by committing suicide in police custody. The deceased Anuj Thapan, 23, hanged himself inside the toilet of the lock-up using a bedsheet

He immediately taken to the nearby hospital, where he declared dead.

A police source said that while two other accused in the case had been taken to record statements, Thapan was in a cell along with 10 other accused from other cases. Around 11 am, he allegedly went to the bathroom where he died by suicide.

Who was Anuj Thapan?

Anuj is accused of providing weapons to the shooters. Thapan has been admitted to a nearby hospital. Earlier, both the shooters, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, who opened fire outside the actor’s residence in Bandra were detained from Gujarat’s Bhuj. 

Thapan was arrested last week by the Mumbai Crime Branch from Punjab and was allegedly involved in procuring firearms for the two accused who fired five rounds outside Khan’s residence on April 14.

The Mumbai Police has invoked MCOCA sections against all the arrested accused. Mumbai Police has described gangster Lawrence Bishnoi as the gang leader. Sections of MCOCA were also added to the FIR.

Anmol Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the firing outside Salman Khan’s residence in a Facebook post following the attack.
