New Delhi: Self-styled Godman Asaram Bapu has been granted bail. Rape convict, Asaram Bapu has been given bail by Supreme Court on medical grounds. The bail has been given till March 31.
The Supreme Court has granted him bail in the 2013 rape case. Asaram is serving a life sentence in Jodhpur Central Jail in the sexual assault case. The Supreme Court has directed Asaram to not meet his followers after he is released.
Supreme Court while granting interim bail directed that Asaram shall not attempt to tamper with the evidence, and shall not meet his followers after he is released on interim bail.
Supreme Court have granted bail on medical grounds to Asaram however, he cant come out of jail. Actually, Asaram has got interim bail from the Supreme Court till March 31 in the Ahmedabad case. But to come out of jail, he will have to get bail in the Jodhpur rape case as well. For this reason, Asaram will remain in jail for now. According to Asaram’s lawyers, after getting interim bail from the Supreme Court, now an application for interim bail will be filed in the Rajasthan High Court in the Jodhpur case.
86-year-old Asaram has many health problems, of which heart disease is the most important as per his lawyers. The Supreme Court bench of Justices MM Sundaresh and Rajesh Bindal has granted interim bail on this basis only.
