Security Forces recover arms, ammunition, and explosives in search operations across Manipur

Imphal: Over the past 24 hours, security forces in Manipur have recovered a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives while apprehending several members of insurgent groups and drug traffickers, according to a statement from Manipur Police on Wednesday. The police indicated that while the situation in the state remains tense, it is currently under control. Security forces have been conducting search operations and establishing area dominance in sensitive regions across the hill and valley districts.

During a search operation on April 2, the forces recovered two Baofeng handheld radios and a BP jacket with a plate from Mollum village and nearby areas under the Churachandpur police station. Additionally, they seized one carbine, three magazines, and 50 rounds of 9mm live ammunition from Khangabok Loukol under the Thoubal police station.

In a separate operation, an active member of the KCP (PWG), Khoirom Deepsea Devi, was arrested in the Imphal West district. Furthermore, an active cadre associated with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), Thounaojam Sachindra Singh, was apprehended in Imphal East district.

In another incident in the Bishnupur district, security forces arrested a suspect identified as Faiju Rahaman for possessing suspected brown sugar. They seized 12 soap caps filled with the substance, totaling approximately 661.8 grams.

The movement of vehicles carrying essential goods along National Highways 2 and 37 has been secured. Strict security protocols are in place at vulnerable locations, and security convoys are provided on sensitive stretches to facilitate the safe transit of vehicles.

A total of 112 checkpoints have been established across various districts in Manipur, both in hilly and valley areas, with no detentions reported by police for violations in the state, as noted in the release.
