Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has informed the High Court that it will not cancel the Sub-Inspector Recruitment Exam 2021, despite the ongoing investigation into a paper leak scandal.
The government’s reply has been shared with all parties involved, and the case is set to be heard later today by Justice Sameer Jain. Additional Advocate General Vigyan Shah stated in court that the investigation is still in progress, with several individuals linked to the leak already apprehended. Approximately 40 trainee sub-inspectors, who were found to have acted as dummy candidates and engaged in malpractice, have also been suspended.
Shah emphasized that the government cannot make a significant decision, such as canceling the recruitment process, at this time. The controversy erupted after the exam paper was leaked, leading the Special Operations Group (SOG) to uncover that several candidates had used fraudulent means to secure positions. To date, around 50 trainee sub-inspectors have been arrested in connection with this case, and 25 of them have received bail from the High Court.
The High Court has indicated that if the government does not respond adequately, it will be assumed that it agrees with the SIT report, the Advocate General’s opinion, and the Cabinet Sub-Committee’s recommendation to cancel the recruitment process. This assumption will influence the court’s decision. Additionally, the court has ordered the government to submit important documents, including the SIT report from August 13, 2024, the Advocate General’s legal opinion from September 14, 2024, and records from Cabinet Sub-Committee meetings held on October 7 and 10, 2024, by January 9. Justice Sameer Jain issued this directive following an application from Kailash Chandra Sharma and others.
