Sonam Wangchuk released from detention after 36 hours, says this on meeting with Prime Minister or President

New Delhi: After 36 hours in detention, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was released by the Delhi Police. Sonam Wangchuk and other people from Ladakh who were on padayatra paid tributes at Rajghat. Sonam Wangchuk and others have been demanding inclusion of Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. To put this demand, he reached.

New Delhi: After 36 hours in detention, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was released by the Delhi Police. Sonam Wangchuk and other people from Ladakh who were on padayatra paid tributes at Rajghat. Sonam Wangchuk and others have been demanding inclusion of Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. To put this demand, he reached the capital Delhi with about 150 people on Monday night, but the police took all those people into custody at the Singhu border.

Sonam Wangchuk was released after a full 36 hours. After being released, he said, I will soon meet PM Modi, President or Home Minister. As soon as he came out of police custody on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Sonam Wangchuk reached Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. After coming out of custody, he said, more than 150 padyatris reached from Leh to Delhi, which included women and the elderly.


Sonam Wangchuk further said, that whatever happens is for good, and due to this our message of environmental protection spread across the country. He said, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, we will say that people should make their lives so simple that more people can live. If we follow what Gandhiji taught us, then the deteriorating environment of Ladakh and the Himalayas may not deteriorate.

Sonam Wangchuk said, there are enough things on this earth for everyone’s needs, but not enough for everyone’s excesses. He said, “We have given such a memorandum to the government that they should protect Ladakh in such constitutional provisions so that the Himalayas are protected.” He said they will meet the Prime Minister, President or Home Minister of India in the coming days. He also said that he will go back to Ladakh after a few days.
