New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the order of police investigation against Isha Foundation. The founder of Isha Foundation is Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev moved Supreme Court challenging the order of Madras High Court. The Madras High Court had sought a report from the Tamil Nadu government on all criminal cases registered against the foundation. As of now, the Supreme Court of India has stayed the order of Madras Court giving relief to Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.

Retired professor S Kamaraj had filed a petition in the Madras High Court against the foundation. It was alleged that his daughters Lata and Geeta were kept hostage in the ashram named Isha Foundation Center. The Madras High Court had said on September 30 that the police should present the details of all the criminal cases related to Isha Foundation. The next day, on October 1, about 150 policemen arrived at the ashram to investigate.

Sadhguru had challenged the High Court order in the Supreme Court, on which the Supreme Court gave its verdict today. The next hearing of the case will be on October 18.

Hearing the matter, CJI Chandrachud said that Supreme Court will put stay on the order of High Court as it has been given any prima facie reason. He also said that both the girls came to the ashram in 2009 when their ages were 24 and 27 years respectively and since then both have been living there at their own will. At that time their age was 24 and 27 years. They are living there of their own free will. He said that the police present in the ashram since last night has now left.

Retired professor S Kamaraj of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University had filed a petition in the High Court. He had said that the ashram has held his daughters hostage. Kamaraj also said that Isha Foundation brainwashed his daughters, due to which they became monk (sannyasis).
