SC reprimands Himachal govt for water supply to Delhi

Himachal has not stopped water anywhere, because there is no dam on the Yamuna river.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has reprimanded the Himachal government official in the matter of releasing water for the country’s capital, Delhi. Actually, the court had asked Himachal Pradesh to release extra water for Delhi. On this, the Himachal government gave a written reply that they had released the water.

But the Himachal government’s lawyer in the Supreme Court says that they are ready to release the water. This means that water has not been released yet. This is a case of contempt. The court has asked the Himachal officials to appear tomorrow.

In this case, Himachal Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said we have released water and are ready to give water. The water will go through Haryana. Delhi is the country’s capital, and it is our responsibility too. We did not stop the water.

In the report given by the Himachal government to the Upper Yamuna River Board (UIRB), it was said that Himachal is giving more than 137 cusecs of water to Delhi. Himachal has not stopped water anywhere because there is no dam on the Yamuna river and its tributary sub-rivers where water can be stopped.

After the orders of the Supreme Court, the Himachal government has deployed two officers of the Jal Shakti Department to measure water to assist the Upper Yamuna River Board. These include the Superintending Engineer (SE) of Nahan Circle and the SE of Planning and Investigation Unit-2.

A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Wednesday regarding the Delhi water crisis. The court reprimanded the AAP government of Delhi for wasting water and not stopping the tanker mafia. The bench of Justices PK Mishra and PB Varale told the Delhi government that the water crisis is deepening. What action have you taken against the tanker mafia so far? If you cannot take action, then we will ask the Delhi Police to take action.

The court asked the Delhi government what steps you have taken to stop the wastage of water. The matter will be heard again tomorrow.

The Delhi government filed a petition in the Supreme Court on May 31 on the water crisis. In this, a demand was made to direct Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh to release extra water to Delhi for one month.
