Patna: Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader and opposition chief in the Bihar Assembly, criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his “silence” on the escalating crime rates in the state. He pointed out that despite Nitish’s two decades in power, law and order remains a significant issue, as highlighted by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) statistics.
Tejashwi cited a recent incident in Mokama, where nearly 200 rounds were fired, which was downplayed by Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister as a minor issue. He has ramped up his critique of both the Bihar and Central governments, accusing them of neglecting the state’s development and failing to meet its longstanding demands, including the demand for special status for Bihar, which he claims the Centre has ignored.
As part of his Karyakarta Darshan Sah Samvad Yatra, Tejashwi visited the home of Hina Shahab and her son Osama Shahab in Siwan. Hina, the widow of the late MP Shahabuddin, recently joined the RJD and may be a candidate in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Tejashwi’s visit aims to strengthen the RJD’s support in Siwan, a constituency closely tied to Shahabuddin.
He mentioned that his campaign intends to fortify the party at various levels—Panchayat, booth, block, subdivision, and district. So far, he has covered most districts and plans to visit Saran, Vaishali, Nalanda, Nawada, and Patna soon. Tejashwi noted that each district presents unique challenges and the RJD is crafting strategies to address them.
As Tejashwi continues to criticize CM Nitish and the BJP-led central government, Nitish is concurrently conducting his own Pragati Yatra, focusing on reviewing developmental projects and inaugurating various initiatives throughout the state.
