10 workers died in an explosion in the reactor unit of a drug manufacturing factory in the Sangareddy district of Telangana. It has not been officially confirmed yet. The accident took place between 8:15 am and 9:30 am at Sigachi Industries located in Pashamilaram Industrial Area.
IG V Satyanarayana said, ‘Six bodies were recovered from the spot while two workers died during treatment. Apart from this, 26 others are injured. NDRF, DRF, SDRF teams as well as 10 fire brigade vehicles are present. Rescue operation is going on.’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the accident by posting on X. Along with this, the Prime Minister has announced a help of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50 thousand to the injured from the National Relief Fund.

According to media reports, the death toll may increase. Also, there are reports of many people being trapped in the debris. The reason for the explosion is not yet known. According to the information, the explosion can happen due to sudden rapid chemical reaction in the reactor.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion was so strong that the workers working there fell about 100 meters away. The reactor unit has been destroyed due to the explosion. Some workers are feared to be buried under the debris.
Two fire robots and disaster response units have also been deployed to control the fire. A company employee said that most of the workers are from Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha and West Bengal. More than 60 workers and a staff of 40 other people work in one shift.

Sigachi Industries manufactures pharmaceutical powder. It has been manufacturing microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) since 1989. It is a white colored powder. It has no smell or taste.
MCC is used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Sigachi Industries has five factories across the country including Hyderabad. The company’s products are exported to more than 65 countries.
After the blast in the factory, Sigachi Industries’ shares fell by 9.89% on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Till then it was trading at Rs 49.72 per share.
