Hyderabad: Police in Karimnagar, Telangana, have registered three cases against P. Kaushik Reddy, a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA, due to his disruptive behavior during a District Review Committee (DRC) meeting on Sunday.

The complaints leading to these cases were lodged at the One Town Police Station by various individuals. One case stemmed from an accusation by the Personal Assistant of Jagitial MLA M. Sanjay Kumar, alleging Kaushik Reddy’s unruly conduct. Additionally, the Revenue Divisional Officer (DRO) also filed a complaint, claiming Kaushik Reddy caused a disruption. A third complaint was made by Sathu Mallesham, the chairman of the Zilla Grandalaya Samastha, who accused the MLA of behaving rudely toward him during the meeting.

During the DRC meeting, Kaushik Reddy got into a heated exchange with Sanjay Kumar, attempting to interrupt his speech and demanding to know the party Sanjay now represents after he switched allegiance to the ruling Congress party after being elected on a BRS ticket in the 2023 Assembly elections. The confrontation escalated when Kaushik Reddy tried to grab the microphone from Sanjay, leading to a chaotic scene that required police intervention to remove him from the meeting.

Afterward, Kaushik Reddy suggested that Sanjay should resign and run in a by-election. In response, Sanjay stated he would only resign if BRS leader K. Chandrasekhar Rao and others who joined BRS from different parties also stepped down. Kaushik Reddy himself had left the Congress to join TRS (now BRS) in 2021.
