Jammu: In Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, the Army and police have launched a large-scale search operation to find three civilians who went missing while on their way to attend a wedding. The search is focused on the Lohai Malhar area, where the three individuals were last seen.

The missing civilians are identified as 35-year-old Jogesh Singh from Marhoon village, 40-year-old Darshan Singh from Dehota village, and 14-year-old Baroon Singh from Dehota village, all from Billawar Tehsil. They disappeared on Thursday evening around 8:30 PM, while traveling from Dehota village to Surag village in Lohai Malhar for a marriage function. Despite 24 hours passing, there has been no trace of their whereabouts. The Jammu and Kashmir Police have ruled out any terrorist involvement so far.

A BJP MLA raised the issue in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, urging the government to provide answers regarding the missing civilians. Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather suggested addressing the issue later in the session.

The disappearance of civilians in the region often raises concerns due to the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, as many individuals have gone missing in the past and were later found to have joined militant groups. For this reason, the authorities immediately investigate whether there is any terror link when civilians go missing.

This case follows a similar incident in February, where three civilians from the Kulgam district disappeared under similar circumstances while on their way to a wedding. Despite efforts, their families have been unable to locate them, and a missing persons report has been filed with the police.
