Jaipur: A devastating accident on the Delhi-Mumbai eight-lane expressway in Rajasthan resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left two others critically injured when a bus transporting devotees from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, collided with a parked truck.

The injured passengers are currently receiving treatment at MBS Hospital in Kota. The bus was on its way to Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh after the group participated in the holy dip at Maha Kumbh. The collision occurred in the early morning near Karodia in Simliya.

According to ASI Hariraj Singh from the Simliya police station, the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. The bus had about 56 passengers on board, all from Mandsaur. As it traveled along the expressway, it crashed into a stationary truck.

Five passengers suffered severe injuries and were urgently referred to Kota for medical attention, while the remaining travelers escaped without injuries. ASI Singh confirmed that three individuals – identified as Kailash Bai (54), Kishori Lal (60), and Ashok (35) – lost their lives. Kailash and Kishori Lal were a married couple. The injured passengers, Chaman Lal and Parvati, were seated in the front of the bus and are currently being treated at MBS Hospital.

The driver of the bus fled the scene following the accident.

Traffic on the expressway was temporarily disrupted, but authorities quickly managed to restore order. Preliminary investigations indicate that speeding may have been a key factor in the tragedy, suggesting that the driver may have lost control before colliding with the parked truck. The police are conducting a detailed investigation and interviewing witnesses to establish the precise details of the crash.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash as the bus hit the stationary vehicle. Further information is expected as the police continue their probe.
