Hyderabad: A wall collapse at a construction site in LB Nagar, Hyderabad, resulted in the deaths of three workers on Wednesday.
In the incident, a group of workers was digging a pit for the cellar of an under-construction hotel when a compound wall fell on them, burying them under debris. Rescue teams, including police and the Disaster Response Force (DRF), quickly arrived at the scene to assist. Unfortunately, the bodies of the three workers were recovered from the rubble.
One additional worker sustained critical injuries and was transported to a private hospital, where he remains in serious condition. The deceased have been identified as Ramu (22), Veeraiah (52), and Vasu (19), all members of the same family from Sitarampuram Thanda in Khammam district, who had migrated to Hyderabad for work.
The bodies were sent to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for autopsy, and authorities are conducting a police investigation, questioning the hotel management regarding the circumstances of the accident. At the time of the collapse, fifteen workers were involved in the digging, with others present managing to escape unharmed.
In a separate incident in nearby Andhra Pradesh, a truck was completely destroyed by fire near Malayanur village in Kundurpi mandal of Anantapur district. The truck was en route from Chitradurga to Anantapur when it caught fire unexpectedly. The driver managed to escape unharmed before the fire department arrived, but the truck was lost completely. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and police have opened an investigation into that incident as well.
