New Delhi: An encounter took place between the Delhi Police Special Cell and suspected criminals in the Dwarka area late Saturday night, resulting in two individuals being injured. Both suspects were shot in the legs, with one sustaining injuries to both legs. They are allegedly sharpshooters associated with notorious gangster Sandeep alias Kala Jathedi.

The police had been investigating multiple complaints against these individuals. The encounter occurred after the Special Cell received information regarding their hiding location in Dwarka. Led by ACP Sanjay Dutt and Inspector Sandeep Dabas, the police cordoned off the area and urged the suspects to surrender. Instead, the criminals opened fire on the police, prompting a retaliatory response that left both injured. They were subsequently taken to the hospital, and their condition is reported as stable.

Authorities indicated that the two had recently fled after committing a crime in the Najafgarh area and were actively being pursued. Investigations revealed their connections to the gang of Sandeep alias Kala Jathedi and Om Prakash Kala, both implicated in numerous criminal activities in Delhi and neighboring regions. While Kala Jathedi is currently incarcerated in Tihar jail, his gang remains active in extortion and other crimes.

The police plan to interrogate the suspects soon to uncover more details about their gang members and future plans. Local residents expressed concern, as the gunfire alarmed the community, prompting some people to cautiously exit their homes. Witnesses reported that the police managed to control the situation quickly after surrounding the area.

Recently, the Dwarka Police arrested three individuals linked to Kala Jathedi’s extortion network during a pair of encounters, where suspects were intentionally shot in the legs to prevent fatal injuries.
