Srinagar: Authorities reported the arrest of two terror associates in the Sopore area of Jammu and Kashmir. A coordinated operation involving the Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and J&K Police took place on Saturday in the Dangiwacha region, leading to the apprehension of two individuals identified as Abdul Rashid Bhat and Sajad Ismail Hurra.
During the operation, law enforcement recovered a pistol, five 9mm rounds, two grenades, and cash amounting to Rs 10,600 from the suspects.
The security forces have launched a vigorous campaign against terrorists and their support networks. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has instructed the forces to intensify efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem in the union territory, especially in response to a series of recent attacks following the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections.
Notably, a recent wave of violence included a deadly attack on October 20, where two terrorists killed seven civilians at a workers’ camp in Gagangir, and another ambush on a military vehicle on October 24 in Gulmarg, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers and two civilian porters. Additionally, a grenade attack on November 2 in Srinagar claimed the life of a woman and injured nine others.
