Two wanted in 80 cases of robberies arrested in Delhi after encounter

New Delhi: On December 29, officials reported the arrest of two men implicated in 80 armed robbery cases across Delhi and Madhya Pradesh following a brief encounter. The suspects, Rohit Kapoor from Dwarka and Rinku from Khyala area, were apprehended by police in West Delhi based on a tip-off regarding their location.

The police formed multiple teams and monitored potential escape routes. They noticed suspicious activity near Cement Siding in Madipur, Punjabi Bagh, early in the morning and ordered the suspects to halt. Instead, the men opened fire, striking the bullet-proof vests of the officers. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, both suspects were shot in the legs.

The injured men were promptly taken to a hospital for treatment, according to officials. Earlier, another suspect named Nadeem was arrested for a robbery in Shahdara, and incidents of significant robberies in Delhi have been on the rise. Last week, a robbery resulted in the loss of Rs 8.5 lakh from a victim en route to a bank, and earlier, a group was arrested for stealing Rs 18 lakh at gunpoint in the Hazrat Nizamuddin area. Additionally, in early December, ten individuals were apprehended for involvement in a Rs 90 lakh robbery in Karol Bagh.
