Amid the ongoing controversy over Hindi in Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray held a rally on 'Marathi unity' at Worli Dome in Mumbai on Saturday.

Mumbai, July 5: Amid the ongoing controversy over Hindi in Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray held a rally on ‘Marathi unity’ at Worli Dome in Mumbai on Saturday. On this occasion, both of them gave indications of future politics together.

Raj Thackeray said, ‘I had said in my interview that Maharashtra is bigger than fights. You can see that after 20 years we have come on one platform. For us there is only Maharashtra and Marathi agenda, there is no political agenda.’

Raj Thackeray said-

‘What Balasaheb Thackeray could not do, what no one else could do, Devendra Fadnavis did it, he united us.

Uddhav said-

Everyone is liking the way Marathi has bridged the gap between us. In my view, our coming together and sharing this platform is far more important than our speeches.

Uddhav and Raj were seen together on stage after 20 years. Earlier, they were seen together in Bala Saheb Thackeray’s rally in 2006. After Uddhav was made the head of Shiv Sena, Raj had formed a separate party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). At that time, the relationship between the two was not good.

Uddhav said- we will have to take an oath that we will always be together

Uddhav said that both of us have experienced how we are used and then thrown away, today we are together. Today we have become one, but it is their habit to try to create a fight again.

He said, ‘If anyone tries to break the Maharashtra where we live, where we were born, we will not let them do so. Today we should take an oath that we will stay together. It starts today.

How the rift happened between Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray

Raj Thackeray has been active in politics since 1989.

In 1989, at the age of 21, Raj Thackeray was the president of Shiv Sena’s student wing, Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. Raj was so active that in the 6 years from 1989 to 1995, he toured every corner of Maharashtra countless times. By 1993, he had connected lakhs of youth with him and Shiv Sena. The result was that Shiv Sena had a strong ground network in the entire state.

In 2005, Uddhav started dominating Shiv Sena

Till 2002, Raj Thackeray and Uddhav were managing Shiv Sena. In 2003, the party convention was held in Mahabaleshwar. Balasaheb Thackeray told Raj- ‘Make Uddhav the working president of the party. Raj asked, ‘What will happen to me and my people.’ By 2005, Uddhav had started dominating the party. His influence was visible in every decision of the party. Raj Thackeray did not like this.

Raj Thackeray leaves party, announces MNS

On 27 November 2005, a crowd of thousands of supporters gathered outside Raj Thackeray’s house. Here Raj told the supporters, ‘My quarrel is not with my Vitthal (Lord Vithoba), but with the priests around him.

There are some people who do not understand the ABC of politics. That is why I am resigning from the post of Shiv Sena leader. Balasaheb Thackeray was, is and will remain my God.

On 9 March 2006, Raj Thackeray announced his party ‘Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’ i.e. MNS at Shivaji Park. Raj called MNS the ‘Party of Marathi Manus’ and said that this party will rule Maharashtra.
