UP: Two houses collapsed near Kashi Vishwanath temple, 8 fear trapped while 1 dead

CM Yogi has given instructions regarding the treatment of the injured.

Varanasi: Two houses collapsed near Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi on Tuesday morning. 9 people including a woman policeman on duty were buried under the debris. 8 were rescued safely while 1 woman died in this mishap.

As soon as the information was received, police force from many police stations reached the spot. NDRF was called. After the accident, the road leading to Kashi Vishwanath temple from Maidagin and Godaulia was closed and entry of devotees from gate number 4 was stopped. The house which collapsed is just 10 meters away from the temple corridor.

At present, a rescue operation is going on. NDRF personnel are removing the debris and checking if anyone else is buried. CM Yogi has given instructions regarding the treatment of the injured.

Commissioner Mohit Agarwal said on the incident said, “The houses were old. Two families lived in it. A relative had also come while 2 tenants also lived there. After the accident, everyone was immediately taken out by running a rescue operation. The woman constable has suffered an injury in her jaw.”
