New Delhi: A 25-year-old UPSC aspirant reportedly committed suicide in his rented flat in Old Rajinder Nagar, Delhi. He was found hanging from the ceiling fan. The Delhi Police received a PCR call at 6:32 PM on July 19. A suicide note was recovered at the scene, in which the deceased blamed himself for his decision.
According to police, the young man was originally from Jammu. During inquiries, it was revealed that his father had attempted to contact him several times since morning but received no response. The father then contacted the house owner, who checked the premises and found the bedroom locked from inside.
The owner entered an adjacent room with a common balcony and saw the deceased hanging. He immediately informed the police.
The room was opened for inspection, and his phone was recovered from his residence—where he had been staying for the past year. The second floor of the building has seven rooms, all rented to UPSC aspirants. The police notified his brother, who lives in Gurugram, and are now conducting further inquiries and inspections.
In a separate incident, a BDS student from a private university in Greater Noida was found dead in her hostel room on Friday, with police asserting that she died by suicide. Two university staff members have been detained following a written complaint from her family.
The student’s brother stated that his sister was under constant mental harassment from the management and a lecturer, which drove her to take such a drastic step. He also urged authorities to take action against the remaining suspects named in her suicide note. Several accused have already been arrested, but he stressed that more should be held accountable.
