Maha Shivaratri, known as the great night of Shiva, is regarded as a time for spiritual growth and represents the triumph over darkness and ignorance. The festival commemorates the divine marriage of Lord Shiva, the destroyer, with Goddess Parvati, who embodies fertility, love, and beauty, also referred to as Shakti (power). According to Hindu mythology, on their wedding night, Lord Shiva arrived at Goddess Parvati’s home accompanied by a diverse assembly of Hindu deities, animals, and demons. The union of Shiva and Shakti symbolizes love, power, and unity, and Maha Shivratri is celebrated with immense devotion and enthusiasm throughout India.
