In a major train mishap that has been reported from Gonda, a train derailed today. Dibrugarh Express which runs between Chandigarh and Dibrugarh derailed near Gonda. Some coaches of the train overturned after the derailment. As per reports, 15 bogies of the train derailed. In this mishap 2 have been reported dead while more than 25 have been reported injured.

Rescue operations are underway and authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the derailment and are working to restore normal rail operations as swiftly as possible. Pankaj Singh, CPRO, North Eastern Railway said, “The medical van of Railways has reached the spot, and rescue operations have started.

Railway Issued Helpline Number

Helpline numbers have been issued. The helpline number established in Lucknow is – 8957409292 and the helpline number in Gonda is – 8957400965. Uttar Pradesh’s Relief Commissioner informed on X that one NDRF team each was sent from Lucknow and Balrampur to Gonda. “Five ambulances were deployed for rescue operations in the train accident and orders have been given to send more ambulances to the spot. First aid is being given to the injured. The injured are being shifted to the hospital. SDRF teams sent from three districts to expedite relief operations.

As soon as the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath got to know about the incident, he ordered officials to reach the spot. Rescue operation is underway and helpline numbers have been issued.

Railway officers reached the spot as soon as the information of the accident was received. The train was coming from Chandigarh. The accident happened in Gosai Dihwa between Jhilahi railway station. Dibrugarh Express (15904) runs from Chandigarh to Dibrugarh. On Thursday, this train left Chandigarh at 11:39 pm.

The Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express derailed near Gonda station in between Motiganj and Jhilahi railway station under the jurisdiction of North Eastern Railway at about 2:37 hrs. On Thursday afternoon, when the train reached Jhilahi station between Gonda and Basti, the train derailed. After this, the bogies of the train overturned.
