Haridwar (Uttarakhand): Three individuals were arrested following a police encounter in the Landaura area of Haridwar after being implicated in a shooting that resulted in one fatality and another injury.
According to police reports, the suspects—Ankush alias Ranjha, Abhishek alias Robin, and Prashant alias Sunny—were apprehended during a late-night operation. Authorities recovered a .315 bore country-made pistol and live cartridges from them.
The shooting incident took place in Landaura, under the jurisdiction of the Manglor police station, where the accused attacked Ikram and Tajim over a financial dispute. Ikram died from his injuries while being transported for medical care, and Tajim is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
In response to the incident, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Haridwar established a team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotwali Manglor. The police conducted raids at several locations and analyzed CCTV footage to locate the suspects.
During a late-night vehicle inspection, police noticed a motorcycle that tried to evade the checkpoint. When officers attempted to stop them, the suspects fired at the police, who returned fire, injuring Prashant alias Sunny in the leg. The other two suspects managed to escape briefly but were later apprehended in a nearby sugarcane field.
Authorities have indicated that the arrested individuals have multiple previous criminal cases against them in Manglor and other police jurisdictions, including attempted murder, robbery, and dacoity. An ongoing investigation is in progress.
