Kanwar Yatra preparation are on full swing: SDRF team ready; Journey to start from July 11

Preparations are going on in full swing for the Kanwar Yatra starting from July 11. This year 4 crore Kanwariyas are expected to reach Haridwar.

Dehradun, July 5: Preparations are going on in full swing for the Kanwar Yatra starting from July 11. This year 4 crore Kanwariyas are expected to reach Haridwar. In view of this, preparations are being done on a large scale. On July 3, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami held a high-level meeting regarding the Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar. In which the officials have been instructed to complete all the preparations.

7 sub-teams of SDRF deployed

SDRF plays the most important role during the Kanwar Yatra. Because many Kanwar Yatra pilgrims bath in the Ganga river without safety standards. Due to which the risk of them getting swept away in the Ganga increases. This year, SDRF has decided to deploy 7 sub-teams of SDRF in 6 most sensitive areas of Haridwar and Rishikesh. This team will be deployed on the Ganga Ghats, keeping in view the safety of Kanwar Yatra pilgrims.

Instructions to teams to remain on alert mode

SDRF Commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi said that SDRF is fully prepared for the Kanwar Yatra. Along with the teams being on alert mode, instructions have been given to the control room to remain active 24 hours so that the Kanwar Yatra remains organised and safe.

He said that during the Kanwar Yatra fair, 7 sub-teams will be deployed in 6 sensitive areas in Haridwar and Rishikesh. One team will have 7 to 8 soldiers, who are fully skilled and trained. This team will be deployed with all the equipment to save the Kanwar Yatra pilgrims in case of any untoward incident while bathing at the ghats.

He said that these sensitive areas include Kangra Ghat Haridwar, Bairagi Camp, Prem Nagar Ashram Ghat Haridwar, Boat Ghat Ram Jhula Bridge Rishikesh, Neelkanth Temple and Dhalwala area.

He said that all the soldiers have been given special training for disaster and relief work. All these soldiers are fully proficient in deep diving and swimming. All the teams will have the necessary equipment so that in any situation these teams can save the Kavad pilgrims.
