Ranchi: A young woman was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in a hotel room under Sakchi police jurisdiction in Jamshedpur on Monday, police officials confirmed. Authorities are now examining whether her death resulted from suicide or foul play, including possible murder and body staging.
The deceased has been identified as Rukhsana, a resident of Azad Basti in Jamshedpur. Her body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Police have also detained two men, one woman, the hotel owner, and the manager for questioning.
Initial reports indicated that a call was received early Monday morning about a suspected suicide in room number 506 at Hotel El Dorado, situated in the Aam Bagan area. Sakchi police and the City DSP arrived at the scene and launched an investigation.
During their inquiry, officers found that on Sunday night, two rooms—504 and 506—were rented out to a group consisting of two men and two women. The men have been identified as Rituraj and Pankaj, residents of Rajendra Nagar within Sakchi police limits. The other woman is from Mango locality.
Detectives recovered several liquor bottles and objectionable items from the room where Rukhsana’s body was located. The woman in custody claimed she had met Rukhsana on Instagram and was invited to a party by her. However, neither she nor the other individuals have provided a clear explanation for the events leading to Rukhsana’s death.
The City DSP stated that hotel owner and manager, who allegedly issued rooms without proper ID verification, are also being questioned. He assured that the case would soon be resolved.
In a separate incident, two unidentified youths were found murdered near Balsiring Bridge in Ranchi’s Dhurwa police jurisdiction late Sunday night, with their throats slit. Police arrived at the scene after a tip-off, retrieved the bodies, and sent them to RIMS for post-mortem.
Hatia DSP Pramod Kumar Mishra said the victims’ bodies were found in a remote area just off the main road. No local residents could identify them, and officers believe the murders occurred elsewhere, with the bodies dumped at that location. Photographs of the victims have been circulated across police stations in Ranchi and neighboring districts, and authorities are checking for any missing persons reports that match their descriptions.
