Woman jumps out of running train to escape sexual assault in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A young woman sustained injuries after jumping from a moving Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) train in Hyderabad to escape an attempted sexual assault. The incident occurred in Secunderabad when a man entered the women’s coach of the Telapur-Medchal MMTS train and tried to assault her. In a desperate attempt to flee, the terrified woman.

Hyderabad: A young woman sustained injuries after jumping from a moving Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) train in Hyderabad to escape an attempted sexual assault.

The incident occurred in Secunderabad when a man entered the women’s coach of the Telapur-Medchal MMTS train and tried to assault her. In a desperate attempt to flee, the terrified woman jumped from the moving train.

Passersby later discovered the 23-year-old lying injured near a railway bridge in Kompally and alerted emergency services. She was subsequently taken to Gandhi Hospital for treatment.

Hailing from Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh, the victim works for a private company on the outskirts of Hyderabad. She had traveled to Secunderabad on Sunday to get her mobile phone repaired and later boarded the Telapur-Medchal MMTS train from Secunderabad Railway Station, sitting in the women’s coach.

Two other female passengers deboarded at Alwal Railway Station, leaving her alone in the compartment. Around 8:30 p.m., a man, estimated to be around 25 years old, entered the coach, approached her, and made sexual advances. When she resisted, he attempted to assault her, prompting her to jump from the moving train.

As a result, she suffered severe injuries to her head, chin, right hand, and waist. The victim described the attacker as thin, dark-complexioned, and wearing a checkered shirt. She mentioned that she could identify him if she saw him again.

Secunderabad Government Railway Police (GRP) Inspector Sai Eshwar Goud confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

Following the incident, railway authorities have intensified security on the MMTS trains, a suburban rail network operated by the South Central Railway to connect Hyderabad with its suburbs.
