Nation’s progress depends on unity and collective effort: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat

Ludhiana: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, on Thursday, said that India’s holistic development can be achieved only through the active participation of every section of society.

As part of his three-day visit to Punjab, Bhagwat reached Ludhiana and interacted with prominent residents at the auditorium of Shri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management. Nearly 800 distinguished individuals from across Punjab attended the event, including representatives of social and religious organisations, noted doctors, industrialists, scientists, academicians, members of erstwhile royal families, film personalities, and talented youth. A significant number of women were also present.

Bhagwat was accompanied by Punjab RSS chief Sardar Iqbal Singh.

During the interaction, Bhagwat spoke about the historical background of the RSS, its gradual growth, working methodology, and the broader vision of national development. Referring to India’s past, he said that a handful of people ruled the country because society lacked unity. “Now that India is independent, our goal is comprehensive national development, which is possible only when all sections of society move forward together,” he stated.

He emphasised that organising society means including all 1.42 billion people living in India, adding that respecting everyone is intrinsic to the Indian ethos. On religious diversity, he remarked that while paths may differ, the destination is the same, urging people to remain firm in their beliefs while respecting others.

Bhagwat also highlighted five key transformations—social harmony, environmental protection, family values, self-awareness, and civic duties—and called for their reflection in personal conduct. Citing the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, including “Pavan Guru, Pani Pita, Mata Dharat Mahat,” he stressed environmental responsibility.

He reiterated that the RSS works for the nation and society, not for itself. The session concluded with a question-and-answer segment, followed by the National Anthem.
