Navjot Kaur Sidhu Quits Congress Ahead of PM Modi’s Punjab Visit, Targets Party Leadership

Chandigarh: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab, Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of former cricketer and ex-Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu, announced her decision to leave the Congress party on Saturday (January 31). She accused the party of sidelining hardworking leaders and claimed decisions are taken based on personal interests.

Targets Punjab Congress Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring

Navjot Kaur specifically targeted Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, accusing him of corruption and of colluding with the Aam Aadmi Party to damage the party’s prospects. She also criticised the party for taking action against her while ignoring the alleged wrongdoings of other senior leaders.

In her social media post, she claimed she had “enough evidence” to expose Raja Warring but chose not to, stating that she was leaving a party where promising leaders are not heard. She also accused him of selling tickets and rewarding leaders who worked against her husband.

Suspended by Congress in December 2025

Navjot Kaur’s departure follows her suspension from the party on December 8, 2025, after she repeatedly made critical statements about senior Congress leaders.

She reiterated that she has never met leaders from BJP, AAP or any other party for political reasons and said her decision is guided by her conscience and faith.

Past Statements Sparked Controversy Within Congress

Earlier, Navjot Kaur’s controversial remarks had stirred tensions within the party, including her statements about money influencing leadership, multiple CM aspirants within Congress, and her readiness to contest the Amritsar East seat in the 2027 elections.
