Chaitra Navratri: Security arrangements tightened at Vaishno Devi, no entry without an RFID card

In anticipation of the massive influx of devotees expected during the upcoming Chaitra Navratri commencing on March 19 the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has geared up its preparations. Following directives from the Lieutenant Governor, a high-level meeting chaired by CEO Sachin Kumar Vaishya was convened to review security protocols, crowd control measures, and disaster management strategies.

During the meeting held on Monday, it was decided that the RFID card system would be strictly enforced along the pilgrimage route. Only holders of valid cards will be permitted to proceed towards the Bhawan (Sanctum Sanctorum).

Additional security personnel will be deployed at key checkpoints to effectively manage and control the crowds. A robust security grid has been established in coordination with the Reasi Police, the CRPF, and the Indian Army; this grid will also include Quick Response Teams (QRTs).

Natural Materials for Decoration

This year, special emphasis has been placed on utilizing natural materials for the decoration of the shrine premises in order to minimize the risk of fire hazards. The Fire Department has been directed to conduct a comprehensive fire safety audit of the entire pilgrimage track and to ensure the strategic deployment of fire tenders at critical locations.

Alternative Arrangements for Crowd Management

In the event of excessive crowding, devotees will be diverted to alternative routes. To ensure smooth traffic flow within the city, a special drive will be launched to remove illegally parked vehicles. The entire pilgrimage route will be monitored in real-time using modern wireless communication equipment, facilitated through an Integrated Command and Control Center.
