Omar Abdullah Targets PDP Over Rajya Sabha Polls, Urdu Issue and Seminary Closure

J&K: A fresh political confrontation has erupted between the National Conference (NC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jammu and Kashmir over the Rajya Sabha elections, the closure of a seminary, and allegations regarding the sidelining of the Urdu language.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah launched a sharp attack on rival parties, claiming that those who allegedly supported the BJP during the Rajya Sabha polls had been “exposed” through information obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

“Those who aided the BJP in the Rajya Sabha polls were exposed through RTI. No one in my party will act against the organisation,” Omar Abdullah said while responding to criticism from opposition leaders.

The remarks intensified the ongoing war of words between the NC and PDP, with both parties accusing each other of compromising political principles and failing to protect the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The controversy also expanded to issues related to the reported closure of a seminary and concerns over the alleged sidelining of Urdu in administrative functioning. Political leaders from both camps traded accusations over cultural and linguistic issues, adding further heat to the political debate in the Union Territory.

The latest exchange reflects growing tensions between the two regional parties as they attempt to strengthen their political positions ahead of future electoral battles in Jammu and Kashmir.
