NDA MPs to Hold Protest at Parliament’s Makar Dwar Today Over Congress Sit-In Near PM Modi’s Residence

New Delhi: Members of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are set to stage a protest at Parliament’s Makar Dwar on Thursday morning in response to the Congress-led sit-in held near Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on July 21 over the alleged lathi-charge on anti-NEET protesters.

The demonstration by NDA MPs is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. and comes amid escalating tensions between the ruling alliance and the Opposition during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.

BJP accuses Rahul Gandhi of avoiding parliamentary debate

A day before the planned protest, the BJP accused Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of avoiding discussion inside Parliament while attempting to create disruption outside.

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj alleged that Rahul Gandhi had initially indicated that the protest would end if the government agreed to discuss the examination issue in Parliament. However, she claimed that when Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh approached the protesters for dialogue, the Opposition did not respond positively.

According to Swaraj, the BJP and treasury benches are prepared for a discussion on examination-related issues and have “nothing to hide.”

BJP says Opposition did not submit formal notice for discussion

Addressing a press conference, Bansuri Swaraj claimed that the Opposition had not submitted a formal notice seeking a discussion on the alleged examination paper leak.

She said a notice under parliamentary rules was instead submitted by members of the treasury benches, asserting that the government remains committed to addressing students’ concerns through debate in Parliament.

The BJP also maintained that Parliament functions through established procedures and not through protests outside the House.

Opposition continues protest over police action on anti-NEET demonstrators

On Wednesday, Opposition MPs from the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and Trinamool Congress assembled outside Parliament wearing black attire to protest against the police action on demonstrators participating in the anti-NEET agitation and the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march called by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).

Earlier this week, Rahul Gandhi, along with senior Congress leaders and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, staged a sit-in near the Prime Minister’s residence before being briefly detained by Delhi Police.

Opposition parties have stated that their agitation will continue if the government does not agree to an adjournment motion and a discussion on the issues raised by the protesters.
