4 people were burnt alive due to a fire in an illegal scrap warehouse in Neemrana (Kotputli-Behror) in Rajasthan. There are also two innocent people in it. A woman has been seriously burnt in the accident.
Information about two people could not be found. All the deceased are from Jharkhand. The bodies will be identified by DNA test.
It is being claimed that the accident occurred due to a fire in the chemical coming out of the perfume bottle. There were also explosions in the chemical drums kept in the warehouse. The incident took place around 5 pm on Friday.
The driver who came to collect scrap was smoking a bidi
According to the police, the warehouse is built on agricultural land. It was rented out to Karan Singh, son of Maman Singh Kolila, who works with scrap. On Friday evening, laborers were breaking some perfume bottles found in the scrap.
They were releasing a spirit-like flammable chemical. During this, a pickup truck driver who had come to load the scrap lit a bidi and threw the burning stick, which caused the chemical to catch fire.
The pillars of the tin shed melted and fell on the laborers.
At the time of the accident, about 7 women, men, and their children were present. As the fire spread in the scrap, everyone started running here and there. Among them, two minors and one woman hid in the back part of the warehouse.
There was no scrap in that part. They thought the flames would not reach there, but due to the intense fire, the pillars of the tin shed melted and fell on them. The plastic waste below started burning, and because of this, they got trapped there.
The entire area shaken by explosions
Sudden explosions began in the drums filled with chemicals stored in the warehouse, causing panic throughout the area. The sound of the blasts terrorized the surroundings.
Local people stated that about five explosions occurred intermittently inside the warehouse. They alleged that they had previously complained to the authorities about the illegal warehouse, but it was not shut down.
A similar accident occurred in Bhiwadi, 50 kilometers from Neemrana, on 16 February 2026. Here, 7 people were burned alive on the spot due to a fire in an illegal factory. Illegal fireworks were being made in a registered factory to produce cloth.
