NEET Controversy: Congress Protests in Jammu Against Cancellation of NEET; Burns Effigy of Central Government

The Jammu and Kashmir Congress staged a protest against the Central Government on Wednesday, opposing the cancellation of the NEET-UG examination and the alleged paper leak. The party demanded a Supreme Court-monitored inquiry into the matter and called for strict action against the culprits.

Led by Raman Bhalla, Working President of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, a large number of party workers and leaders gathered outside the party headquarters and raised slogans against the Central Government. During the protest, Congress workers also burnt an effigy of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Raman Bhalla stated that the irregularities and paper leak associated with the NEET examination must be investigated under the supervision of the Supreme Court so that the truth may come to light and students’ faith in the examination system can be restored.

He added that the cancellation of the examination and the recurring incidents of paper leaks are jeopardizing the future of students, a matter of grave concern. The Congress alleged that transparency within the examination system has eroded during the tenure of the Central Government. The protesters also demanded that strict action be taken against all individuals implicated in the examination scandal and that those responsible be removed from their posts. The Congress issued a stern warning against any form of tampering with the future of the youth.
