Over 4,000 Candidates Appear for NEET UG 2026 Examination in Puducherry

Puducherry: More than 4,000 candidates appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026 in Puducherry on Sunday, with the examination being conducted smoothly across nine designated centres in the Union Territory under strict security arrangements and monitoring by authorities.

Officials said elaborate preparations were made to ensure the smooth conduct of the medical entrance examination, which is one of the most competitive undergraduate entrance tests in the country. Security personnel were deployed at all centres, and candidates underwent thorough verification before being allowed entry into examination halls.

Strict Guidelines Followed at Examination Centres

Candidates were instructed to adhere to the National Testing Agency’s dress code and reporting guidelines. Only light-coloured clothes with half sleeves and slippers or sandals were permitted, while prohibited items such as mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, and other electronic gadgets were barred from the centres.

Invigilators and centre staff closely monitored the examination process to ensure compliance with all regulations and maintain fairness and transparency during the test.

The NEET UG 2026 examination was held across the country for lakhs of aspiring medical students seeking admission to undergraduate medical and dental programmes. Puducherry recorded participation of over 4,000 candidates, reflecting strong interest among students in pursuing medical education.

Authorities noted that no major disruptions were reported from any of the centres during the examination. Parents and guardians were seen waiting outside centres as candidates completed the test.

The NEET examination remains the single largest gateway for admission into MBBS, BDS, and other undergraduate medical courses in India, with results expected to be announced by the National Testing Agency in the coming weeks.
