‘Cockroach Janata Party’ Protest Continues in Delhi, Demands Education Minister’s Resignation Over NEET Row

Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) is protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar today over the NEET paper leak. Party founder Abhijit Deepke arrived on stage with photos of Gandhi and Ambedkar. The CJP has also put up posters of students who committed suicide after the NEET paper leak on the stage.

On Friday, Deepke had written a letter to PM Modi demanding a compensation of one crore rupees each to the families of NEET students who committed suicide. He has also demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

He wrote that the environment of the country is affecting the lives and mental health of the youth. Despite the re-exam, the suicides of the students have not stopped. The government should look into the real problem.

Earlier, Abhijeet had protested at Jantar Mantar on June 6. The CJP has so far also performed in Pune, Lucknow, Amritsar, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Jaipur and Nagpur.

14 students commit suicide in 38 days

In the last 38 days in the country, 14 students associated with the NEET exam have committed suicide. A student preparing for NEET in Indore fell down from the third floor late on Thursday night. In critical condition, she was first taken to a private hospital and then to MY Hospital. She died on Friday morning. A video of the student’s fall has also surfaced.

CJP, started after CJI’s remark, had called youth ‘cockroaches’

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) started after a comment by Chief Justice Suryakant. On May 15, during the hearing of a case, he said that some unemployed youth are like cockroaches, who later attack the system by becoming media, social media users, or RTI activists.

The day after this remark, on May 16, Abhijit Deepke, who lives in the US, started the CJP and created party accounts on social media. On May 22, he launched an online petition demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, which claimed to have the support of over 8 lakh people.

As of June 10, CJP and Instagram had 22.7 million followers. Now it has come down by two lakhs. Still, this number is more than the BJP’s 94 lakh followers and the Congress’s 1.37 crore followers. CJP has 2.79 lakh followers on X.
