NEET UG: 13 Lakh candidates submit bank details for fee refund; NTA extends deadline until June 22

An important update has emerged for candidates associated with the NEET UG 2026 examination. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the deadline for submitting bank account details for the examination fee refund to June 22, 2026. This decision was taken keeping in mind the convenience of those students who have not yet submitted their bank details.

Notably, the NEET UG 2026 examination was originally conducted on May 3; however, following allegations of a paper leak, the NTA cancelled the exam on May 12. Subsequently, the agency decided to conduct a re-examination on June 21. The NTA had already clarified that candidates would not be charged any fresh examination fee for the re-exam, and the fees previously deposited would be refunded.

The previous deadline was May 26

The NTA had provided candidates with a window from May 22 to May 26 to submit their bank account details on the NEET UG 2026 portal. However, a large number of students were still unable to complete this process. According to the agency, approximately 1.3 million candidates have updated their bank account details so far.

In a notice issued on the social media platform ‘X’, the NTA stated that to provide additional time to candidates who have not yet submitted their bank details, this facility is being extended until 11:50 PM on June 22, 2026.

The agency has advised candidates to log in to the NEET UG 2026 registration portal and accurately fill in their bank account details via the refund link. Candidates also have the option to upload a cancelled cheque to ensure the accuracy of the provided information.

Exam Scheduled for June 21

The NTA has also clarified that once the bank account details have been submitted, no modifications of any kind will be permitted. Therefore, candidates are advised to fill in all details with utmost care.

This year, approximately 2.3 million candidates had registered for the NEET UG examination. Currently, the CBI is investigating the paper leak case, and the examination is scheduled to be held again on June 21.
