NEET-UG Paper Leak: PV Kulkarni Accused of Running Secret Classes and Handwritten Notes in Pune

Pune: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Pune-based chemistry lecturer PV Kulkarni, alleging that he played a key role in the NEET-UG examination 2026 paper leak case. Investigators described him as the alleged “kingpin” behind the operation.

According to the CBI, Kulkarni was associated with the examination process through the National Testing Agency and allegedly used that access to leak exam questions before the medical entrance test.

Secret Coaching Sessions and Handwritten Notes

Investigators alleged that Kulkarni conducted special coaching sessions in Pune where selected students were given handwritten notes containing likely exam questions and answers. During these sessions, he allegedly dictated questions, options and correct answers to candidates before the examination.

The probe further revealed that leaked questions were circulated in the form of “guess papers” among students for large sums of money. Authorities suspect the material was handwritten, scanned and later shared digitally.

CBI Expands Investigation

The CBI is now examining communication records, digital devices and financial transactions linked to the alleged paper leak network. Officials are also investigating whether other individuals connected to coaching centres or the examination process were involved.

The controversy has raised fresh concerns over the security and transparency of national-level competitive examinations in India. Following the leak row, authorities announced major reforms, including plans to shift future NEET examinations to a computer-based format.
