Netanyahu Rejects Gaza Plan, Demands Hamas Disarmament

Netanyahu said Israel would not withdraw from its current positions in Gaza until Hamas was fully disarmed.

He stressed that disarmament would have to cover heavy and light weapons and described complete disarmament as a key condition for any Israeli military withdrawal.

The Israeli Prime Minister also said discussions with the United States were continuing, with some elements of the US proposal acceptable to Israel and others not.

‘No Palestinian State’ Under Netanyahu

Netanyahu also ruled out the establishment of a Palestinian state while he remains Israel’s Prime Minister.

“As long as I am prime minister, no Palestinian state will be established — not in Gaza and not in the West Bank,” he said.

His comments add another major obstacle to the proposed peace framework, particularly over the long-term political status of Gaza and the West Bank.
