New Orders to Maintain Law and Order

Ordinary citizens complain that lawbreakers are carrying out their activities every day in some street, neighborhood, or square, but they are not being reined in. Theft, robbery, and snatching are perpetrating their activities in broad daylight and then escaping.

Those who steal money, mobile phones, jewelry, or vehicles from passersby on deserted roads are unstoppable. There is also no shortage of people who drive their vehicles at high speeds at night and consider disregarding the rules a status symbol. Blown horns, loud music, and then making reels and posting them on social media have become a hobby for them.

To curb such audacity, Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur of Jalandhar District, Punjab, has issued several new orders and has also called for strict enforcement of existing orders. According to the orders, restaurants, clubs, and other licensed eating places in the city must close by 12:00 midnight. Customer orders will not be accepted after 11:30 pm, nor will entry into food points be permitted.

All street noise sources, including DJs, live orchestras, and parties, will be shut down by 10:00 pm. Music and music may continue for a short period after 10:00 pm if the sound does not reach outside the boundary wall, but not after 11:30 pm. CCTV cameras must be installed in every parking lot. No parking lot should be without them.If a customer wishes to park their vehicle for the entire day, they must provide their identification. If they wish to park for more than one day, they will be required to provide all their information to the parking lot operators.

The CCTV cameras will generate a 45-day recording and submit it to the Security Branch office of the Police Commissioner, Jalandhar. No one can wear police or military uniforms without providing identification. The orders have been issued, but it remains to be seen how strictly they are enforced.
