New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against two accused in connection with the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana terror conspiracy case.

The accused — Siraz Ur Rahiman of Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh) and Syed Sameer of Hyderabad (Telangana) — were arrested by Andhra Pradesh Police on May 16 and May 17, 2025, respectively.

Filed before the NIA Special Court in Visakhapatnam, the chargesheet names them for radicalising and preparing gullible youth across India via social media platforms to carry out terrorist attacks in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and other parts of the country.

The duo has been charged under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act [UA(P)A].

According to NIA findings, the accused were inspired by ISIS ideology and actively spread radical content through online groups on Instagram and Signal, aiming to incite violent jihad and disrupt national security and communal harmony.

The agency confirmed that the investigation into the wider conspiracy to spread extremist propaganda and promote radicalisation is still ongoing.

Two Convicted in Pakistan-Linked Navy Espionage Case

In a separate case, an NIA Special Court in Visakhapatnam sentenced two individuals — Kalavalapalli Konda Babu of Visakhapatnam district (Andhra Pradesh) and Aviansh Somal of Kangra district (Himachal Pradesh) — in the Pakistan-linked Visakhapatnam Navy espionage case.

Both were awarded five years and ten months of simple imprisonment (SI) under Section 18 of the UA(P) Act and Section 3 of the Official Secrets Act.

Additionally, the court imposed a fine of ₹5,000 each, with a default penalty of one year of additional imprisonment if the fine is not paid.

According to the NIA statement, the sentences mark a significant breakthrough in counter-espionage efforts targeting Pakistan-backed intelligence networks in India.
