NIA raids 10 locations in Punjab; Investigations underway in 3 districts

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 10 locations in three border districts of Punjab. The NIA stated that these raids were carried out to further the investigation into the grenade attack on a temple in Amritsar in 2025. The agency said that search operations were conducted at a total of 10 locations in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Gurdaspur districts of Punjab on Thursday.

During these searches, NIA teams seized a large quantity of incriminating material, including several mobile phones, digital devices, and important documents. The NIA said that further links to this terrorist conspiracy are expected to be uncovered after examining the recovered documents and digital devices.

Grenade Attack on the Night of March 14, 2025
The incident took place on the night of March 14, 2025. On that day, an explosion occurred outside the Thakurdwara Sanatan Temple on Sher Shah Road, Khandwala, Amritsar. The NIA investigation revealed that it was not a normal explosion but a grenade attack. This attack was part of a larger conspiracy to spread terror in Punjab. According to the investigation, the attack was carried out on the instructions of handlers based abroad, who were involved in recruiting and funding individuals in India.

Vishal and Gursidak Threw the Grenade
The investigating agency found that two accused, Vishal and Gursidak, were responsible for throwing the grenade at the temple. Vishal is currently in NIA custody, while the other accused, Gursidak, has died. The explosive material was provided to them by Sharanjit Kumar, a resident of Kadian, Batala.

Sharanjit fled to Jharkhand and Bihar after the incident and was arrested by the NIA in September 2025. Based on his information, three hand grenades and a pistol were also recovered from Gurdaspur district.
