Nihang Attacked at Mohali Gurdwara, Supporters Nab Alleged Attacker

There was a ruckus at a gurdwara in Mohali on Sunday during the reception ceremony of the Nihangs who returned to Punjab after being released in the Karnaprayag case in Uttarakhand. In the midst of the ceremony, a man tried to attack Nihang Baba Jasdeep Singh. This led to chaos and tension in the Gurudwara premises for some time.

The Nihangs present at the spot immediately overpowered the accused. After this, he was beaten. His clothes were torn. Baba Jasdeep Singh had reached the Gurudwara with the four acquitted companions.

The dispute started in Karnaprayag on June 16. There was a fight between the Nihangs and the locals, after which the four Nihangs were arrested. Some Nihangs occupied the gurdwara in protest against the arrest. At the same time, a large number of Nihangs from Punjab announced their march to Uttarakhand, but the police stopped them at the border in Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh.

The standoff ended on Friday night after Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini intervened. On his instructions, political advisor Tarun Bhandari held talks with the Uttarakhand government, after which the four Nihangs arrested in the assault case were granted bail on Saturday.

According to the information, Nihang Singh, who was arrested in the Karnaprayag case in Uttarakhand, returned to Punjab on Saturday after getting bail from the court. Baba Jasdeep Singh was also present with him. A reception was held at Gurudwara Singh Shaheedan, Sohana in Mohali on his release.

During the ceremony, Siropas were being presented to the Nihang Lions and cheers were being cheered by the Sangat. Meanwhile, a person present in the crowd suddenly came forward and tried to scuffle with Baba Jasdeep. Soon after the incident, the Nihang Singhs and supporters present there caught hold of him and beat him up.

The eyewitness told what happened… The Nihangs present at the spot said that two of their companions, Jashanpreet Singh and Ajay Singh, were coming to the gurdwara from Uttarakhand. On the way, a man abused him and tried to snatch his saber. He also called his colleagues on the spot. He said that you guys come here every day and create a ruckus. After this, both Nihang Singh came to Gurudwara Sahib, and the accused also reached there. After this, the uproar increased.

Nihang Baba Jasdeep Singh said that miscreants are everywhere. We don’t know who they were. No one can target us. The Akal Purkh is with us. No one can even touch us. Thank you to the entire sect for winning this front.

DSP said – action will be taken on receiving the complaint DSP Harsimrat Singh of Mohali City-2 said that after the information, the team from the police station Sohana immediately reached the spot. The situation is peaceful there right now. The police team is in constant touch with the managers of the gurdwara. No complaint has been received from any party so far. If any complaint is received, action will be taken as per law.

The dispute started on June 16 in Karnaprayag market of Chamoli district. The bike of a group of Nihangs returning from the Hemkund Sahib Yatra collided with a car parked in the market. After this, an argument started between the two sides, which turned into a violent clash.

It is alleged that some Nihangs attacked with swords and other sharp weapons, in which many locals were injured. After this, the police took action and arrested four Nihangs (Jashanpreet, Ajay Singh and Manpreet Singh of Mohali and Satwinder Singh, resident of SAS Nagar) and registered a case under other serious sections including attempt to murder and sent them to jail.

After the incident, the Sikh community alleged that the police had taken unilateral action and that the Nihangs had acted in self-defence. After this, a counter FIR was also registered against local unknown people at Karnaprayag police station on the complaint of the father of the injured Sikh devotee.

After this, the dispute reached the Nagarasu Gurudwara. Then a group of Nihangs from Punjab left for Uttarakhand. There was a confrontation between the police and the Nihangs at the Kulhal border.
