Nitish Kumar Slams Lalu Family, Highlights Development Work at Munger Rally

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday addressed a massive public meeting at Khand Bihari in the Jamalpur Assembly constituency of Munger district, urging people to vote for the Janata Dal (United) candidate.

The Chief Minister launched a scathing attack on the Lalu Prasad Yadav family, accusing them of promoting dynastic politics and neglecting Bihar’s development during their tenure.

‘No Rule of Law Before 2005’

Nitish Kumar recalled the state’s condition before his government came to power, asserting that law and order had completely broken down.

“Before 2005, there was no rule of law in Bihar. People used to lock themselves inside their homes after sunset. The education system had collapsed, roads were in ruins, and electricity was only a name. After 2005, both the rule of law and development returned to Bihar,” he said.

Attack on RJD’s Dynastic Politics

Taking a direct swipe at RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Nitish said:

“When Lalu Prasad Yadav was removed from power after seven years, he made his wife the Chief Minister — this is the height of dynastic politics. He also brought his sons into politics.”

He urged voters to reject family rule and support parties focused on governance and progress.

Focus on Education and Jobs

Highlighting his government’s initiatives, Nitish said that 2.58 lakh teachers have been recruited through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), while recruitment for 28,000 more teachers is underway, taking the total to 5.2 lakh teachers across the state.

Under the ‘Saat Nishchay Yojana’ (Seven Resolves Scheme), he claimed, 40 lakh youth have already been employed, with a target to provide one crore jobs over the next five years.

Healthcare and Social Welfare Push

The Chief Minister said that since 2006, free medicines and treatment have been available in government hospitals. He announced that 27 new medical colleges are being established across Bihar.

Nitish also increased the old-age and disability pension to ₹1,100 per month, promising continued support for the elderly and differently-abled.

Empowering Women and Expanding Infrastructure

Emphasising women’s empowerment, Nitish said his government ensured 50% reservation for women in Panchayati Raj Institutions and urban local bodies, and 35% representation in the police force — the highest in India.

He noted that the number of Jeevika Didis (self-help group members) has now reached 1.40 crore, reflecting the success of women-led rural initiatives.

Nitish further said that electricity has reached every household since 2018, with 125 units of power being provided free to domestic consumers.

Centre–State Coordination for Growth

Highlighting the partnership with the Union government, Nitish said Bihar received substantial funds in the 2024 Union Budget, with several new schemes, including the Makhana Board, announced for 2025.

“The state and central governments are working together to accelerate Bihar’s progress,” he said, concluding his address amid loud cheers from supporters.
