NLSIU cancels convocation ceremony amid controversy over CJI Surya Kant’s proposed presence

New Delhi: The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, has cancelled its 34th annual convocation, scheduled for September 12, citing “unavoidable circumstances.”

This decision comes amid controversy surrounding the proposed presence of Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant and Bar Council of India Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra.

Students to confer degrees without ceremony

NLSIU said that graduating students will be conferred degrees without a convocation ceremony. Students will be given the option of receiving their certificates via courier or picking them up on campus.

CJP Reacts

Reacting to this decision, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) co-convenor Saurav Das suggested that students hold their own ceremony and invite a special guest to honor them. He said, Do it Gen-Z style!”
