Jaipur: Rajasthan’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara held a high-level review meeting with departmental officials and representatives of gas companies at the state secretariat on Thursday to assess the supply and distribution of domestic LPG in the state.
Reiterating the state government’s commitment under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Godara said that LPG supply is stable and smooth, and gas cylinders are being delivered within three to four days of booking.
He assured citizens that there is sufficient stock of LPG available and there is no need to worry.
The minister also confirmed that gas supply to hospitals, educational institutions, Annapurna kitchens, and religious places continues uninterrupted.
OTP and diary entry now mandatory
To curb malpractices, Godara announced that no domestic LPG cylinder will be delivered without OTP verification and mandatory entry in the delivery diary.
This decision was taken following complaints that some gas agencies were diverting cylinders without proper verification.
He said, “Such practices affect genuine consumers and will not be tolerated.”
With approximately 1,300 gas agencies operating in the state, this new system will help prevent fraudulent bookings and bring transparency to the delivery process.
Gas companies have been directed to conduct awareness campaigns at all agencies through posters and banners to inform consumers about the OTP-based delivery system.
Strict Monitoring and Inspection
The Minister stressed the need for strict monitoring at all levels. State and district-level vigilance committees are actively working to address cases of black marketing, diversion, and illegal storage.
To strengthen monitoring, field officers of gas companies have been instructed to conduct surprise inspections of at least one gas agency daily, submit reports with geotagged evidence, and pay special attention to remote and sensitive areas.
Godara said, “These measures will ensure complete accountability and prevent any diversion.”
Amrish Kumar stated that there has been no reduction in the daily supply of LPG in the state.
Constant monitoring is being done to ensure uninterrupted supply to domestic consumers.
According to officials and gas agency representatives, the supply system is running smoothly.
Improved availability has increased consumer confidence, which has reduced pressure on the booking system and improved server efficiency.
