Noida Woman Dies by Suicide After Alleged 14-Month Dowry Harassment; Husband and In-Laws Arrested

Noida, Uttar Pradesh: A woman in Greater Noida allegedly died by suicide after prolonged harassment linked to dowry demands, including a Fortuner SUV and ₹1 crore in cash, police said on Monday. The incident has led to the arrest of her husband, while investigations into the case are underway.

According to officials, the woman jumped to her death from a building in the Ecotech-III area of Greater Noida. Her family has alleged that she was subjected to continuous mental and physical harassment over dowry demands since her marriage.

Family Alleges Dowry Harassment

Police said the victim’s family has accused her husband and in-laws of demanding expensive items, including a Toyota Fortuner and large cash sums, and of harassing her over an extended period.

Following the complaint, police arrested the husband in connection with the case, while further legal proceedings are underway.

Investigation Underway

Authorities are examining the circumstances leading to the woman’s death, including allegations of dowry harassment and domestic abuse. Officials said statements from family members and other evidence are being collected as part of the investigation.

The case has once again highlighted rising concerns over dowry-related harassment and suicides in the region.
