Noida Sector 79 Residents Protest Against Sikka Group Over Water, Power Crisis and Basic Amenities

New Delhi: Residents of Sikka Kimaantra Greens Society in Noida’s Sector 79 staged a protest on Saturday against Sikka Group, alleging that they have been deprived of basic amenities, including clean drinking water and reliable electricity, since purchasing their flats.

The residents said the lack of essential services has caused significant hardship and affected their quality of life.

    Residents flag poor water quality

Speaking to IANS, a resident alleged that the water supplied in the society is excessively saline and unfit for consumption.

“The water is so salty that people fall sick after drinking it. We have started losing our hair because of the poor water quality,” the resident said.

The resident also alleged frequent power disruptions, claiming that electricity goes out 10 to 25 times a day and returns only after intervals of around 10 minutes.

According to residents, the problems have continued for nearly three years since the society became operational.

    Builder accused of ignoring complaints

Residents alleged that the builder has failed to make adequate arrangements for essential services such as water and electricity despite repeated complaints.

They claimed that the developer has repeatedly assured them that the problems would be resolved “next month”, but no concrete action has been taken.

Residents also raised concerns over poor maintenance and sanitation within the housing complex.

    Stagnant fountain raises health concerns

Residents alleged that a fountain constructed inside the society has become stagnant due to accumulated water, creating unhygienic conditions and raising concerns over mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue.

They claimed that several residents have fallen ill and required medical treatment because of the prevailing conditions.

Another resident alleged that Sikka Builders had collected the full payment for the flats along with additional charges but failed to address the residents’ concerns regarding basic amenities.

    Around 250 residents affected

According to residents, around 250 people live in the society and are facing difficulties because of the shortage and poor quality of basic services.

They said they had submitted multiple complaints and sought meetings with representatives of the builder but had not received a satisfactory response.

Frustrated by the continued alleged inaction, the residents staged the protest and demanded immediate steps to resolve their grievances.

The allegations made by residents could not be independently verified.
