New Delhi: A 65-year-old man was killed and another seriously injured in a violent clash over an old rivalry in the Seelampur area of North-East Delhi on Monday morning.
The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. in the Seelampur police station area. According to officials, the deceased has been identified as Ismail (65). The second victim, a 45-year-old man, is seriously injured and has suffered a serious eye injury. He has been admitted to Praveen Chandra Hospital.
FSL and crime team arrive at the scene
As soon as the incident was reported, the Forensic Science Lab (FSL) and crime team arrived at the scene and collected evidence. During the investigation, police recovered a pistol and a knife from the scene.
The deceased’s daughter, Mehjabeen, said, “My father was drinking tea in the morning and was alone. The accused, Danish, came with a knife and a pistol and attacked him. There had been a minor altercation recently. Danish would often threaten us, but we didn’t take it seriously.”
Family alleges threats
Family members say the accused had made threats in the past, but no one took it seriously. Police are investigating the entire incident and trying to determine the true cause of the incident.
According to locals, the sudden incident in the early morning created panic in the area. People rushed to help the injured, and police later arrived at the scene.
Concern over rising violence in Delhi
This incident comes just days after another double murder in South Delhi’s CR Park area on April 18, in which a father and son were murdered. In that case, Rakesh Sood (62) and his son Karan (27) died upon arrival at the hospital, while a third person, Rahul, was seriously injured. Police detained a neighbor named Asad in connection with the case.
During the investigation, police found that the accused, Asad, had attacked with a sharp-edged weapon and tried to escape.
Blood stains were found at the scene, and police cordoned off the area and began an investigation.
