    New Delhi: German football legend Oliver Kahn has praised the iconic rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, calling it one of the greatest and most consistent competitive battles in football history.

    Kahn said the two football superstars pushed each other for nearly two decades, raising the standards of performance and excellence season after season.

    He noted that their rivalry was not built on words but on performances on the pitch, making it a unique era in world football.

    ‘Built on Performance, Not Words’  

    According to Kahn, both players continuously challenged each other to improve, creating a level of consistency and dominance that may never be seen again in the sport.

    He said their rivalry helped redefine modern football and set new benchmarks for greatness across generations.

    Kahn Reflects on World Cup Memories

    Kahn, who is part of the FIFA World Cup 2026 expert panel on ZEE5, also reflected on his 2002 World Cup campaign, where he became the only goalkeeper to win the Golden Ball despite Germany finishing runners-up.
